The spoon rest is the one that sits on the kitchen counter, next to the hob. The spoon, the ladle, the spatula: they go there, not on a paper napkin or the edge of the pan.

Maurizio's is made of terracotta: a simple, low shape with a rim that holds utensils without letting them slide. Terracotta doesn't stain or rust, and it washes easily.

Handmade in Altomonte. The shape is just right for sitting next to the hob every day. The small irregularities in the surface are those of a handcrafted object.

Use it every time you cook. It sits there and does its job, without taking up space.

A small object you miss when it isn't there.
