The small one is for pulses for one, for sauce, for vegetables. The medium one is for two or three portions, for a lunchtime soup. The large one is for the whole table, for Sunday beans, for ragù that simmers all day. Three sizes, one material, one pair of hands.
Maurizio makes them in Altomonte, one at a time, on a kick wheel. The small imperfections of the terracotta tell the story of the work: a slightly asymmetrical rim, a surface that bears the marks of hands. They aren't flaws. They're proof that there are no moulds, only craftsmen.
Keep them in the kitchen and use them all, depending on the day and what's cooking. Or keep them on display, because they look good together: three different pieces you recognise at first glance.
