History of the logo

The name braalla comes from our town of origin, ALTOMONTE, once called BRAHALLA. So we decided to shorten it, removing the acca, to make it easier to write and pronounce the BRAND. The pictogram, which was specially created, is an abstract representation of the rose window of the church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, the town's cathedral, which represents for us majesty, beauty and worship, located in the upper and ancient part of the village!

Our project

Made in Italy, the quality of the artisans' products, the flavors that the fruits of our territory give, have no equal. We are very attached to our land and proud of the companies that live there and for this reason we want to valorise its products, both artisanal and gastronomic, making their recipes and old traditions known.

The origins and excellence of our territory are fundamental for us and betting on them is a way to promote it and make it grow. We start from them, and then expand throughout southern Italy.

We have always believed that villages should not die but should keep up with the times, reinventing themselves and always keeping their traditions alive.

“If it isn't people who come to us, it's us who make known the beauties, flavors, smells and artisan hands of our beautiful village” so as to make it appreciated, encouraging people to come and admire it in person.

History of the village

Precisely because we are very attached to our territory, we want to tell you a little about the history of the village. Probably first called Balbia, a name dating back to Roman times, and later Brahalla or Bragalla, in the first half of the 14th century it was called "Altofiume", at the behest of Filippo Sangineto, owner of the county. Shortly afterwards Queen Joanna I gave it its current name, which clearly alludes to the position of the place: the composition of the toponym should be noted, in which the adjective precedes the name, according to the Norman type formations. A fiefdom of the noble Guasto family, in the second half of the thirteenth century it belonged to Gerardo d'Arena and Erberto d'Orleans. These were succeeded by Guglielmo Pallotta and the Sanginetos, from whom it passed, at the end of the 14th century, to the Sanseverinos of Bisignano, through female succession. The historical-architectural heritage includes: the fourteenth-century church of Santa Maria della Consolazione (where we take inspiration for our brand), with clear signs of subsequent restoration phases, containing, among other things, the Sanguineto mausoleum; the churches of San Giacomo and San Ferdinando; the former Dominican convent; the medieval castle, of Norman origin, with traces of frescoes, from the 14th-15th century, and the Pallotta tower, a massive quadrilateral construction, from the 14th century. Altomonte lies on a promontory at around 455 m above sea level. Its fertile territory is partly on the plain, bathed by the Esaro, Grondi and Fiumicello rivers and partly on the hills with wide panoramic views. The surface area of the Altomonte territory is approximately 65.29 km² of which the majority is susceptible to crops such as wheat, barley, legumes and vegetables, citrus fruits and orchards. There are plenty of olive groves and native vineyards producing the Balbini wines, so praised by Pliny the Elder. In our village there are still many valid and proud artisans of their territory, many of these present on our site.

We want to thank you for taking the time to learn about our project!

A hug, Luigi and Pasquale.
