Calabrian wine has never been as famous as it deserves. For years it left the region in bulk, anonymous, without a name. Farneto del Principe is one of the wineries that chose to do the opposite: bottle it, sign it, tell the story of what's inside.
Braalla chose these wines because they come from grape varieties you won't find anywhere else, and because the way they're made reflects the same principle behind the products we select: no shortcuts.
Wines from Farneto del Principe
Milbesium, Palatinus, and Gratus: three Latin names for three wines that tell the story of Calabria through the grape varieties that have grown here for centuries.
Farneto del Principe, who they are
Farneto del Principe is a Calabrian winery that works with native grape varieties, organically farmed. No chemicals in the vineyard, no corrections in the cellar: the wine that comes out is whatever the season produced, not whatever they wanted to get.
Braalla chose these wines because they share the same approach behind everything we select: respect for the raw ingredient, honest craftsmanship, no shortcuts.
Braalla Wines Limited Edition
Three wines from Farneto del Principe under the Braalla label. White, Rosé, and Red, each from a native Calabrian grape variety, produced in limited quantities every year. Once they're gone, they're gone.
The bundle for anyone who wants to get to know Braalla's wines, or for those who already love them.
How to pair them with Braalla products
Wine and food come from the same land. The pairings come naturally.
Il Rosso · Milbesium | With 'nduja
The red from Magliocco stands up to the heat of 'nduja without covering it. A glass, toasted bread, and the 'nduja lit and warm — that's all it takes.
Il Bianco · Palatinus | With frisa
Frisa soaked in water, a drizzle of Calabrian extra virgin oil, fresh tomato. The crisp white sits over it the way the August sun does.
Il Rosato · Gratus | With cheese
The Calabrian rosé with caciocavallo silano, aged ricotta, pecorino. Enough body to hold its own, enough freshness not to tire the palate.
Il Rosso · Milbesium | With slow ragù
If the ragù has spent three hours over the fire in the terracotta pot, it wants a wine that can keep up. Magliocco holds through the long cooking.
Il Rosato · Gratus | With Calabrian cured meats
Soppressata, capocollo, pancetta. The rosé is the everyday wine of the Calabrian table — it goes with everything and never disappoints.
Il Bianco · Palatinus | With Calabrian fish
Calabria has two coasts. The native white grows close to the sea and sits close to the table too — grilled fish, anchovies, salt cod.
Organic Calabrian Wine
Braalla selects organic Calabrian wines made from native grape varieties, produced by Farneto del Principe: Magliocco, Guarnaccia, Castiglione, and Calabrese. The selection includes two lines: wines under the Braalla Limited Edition label (White, Rosé, and Red at €15) and wines under the original Farneto del Principe label (Milbesium, Palatinus, and Gratus starting at €12). All the wines are certified organic IGT Calabria, made with no chemicals in the vineyard and no corrections in the cellar. Bundles with a glass, and a Tris gift box with three bottles, are also available.
