In Calabria the terracotta jug was an everyday object. For water from the spring, wine from the cellar, juice in summer. Terracotta keeps drinks cool without a fridge: the porous clay lets moisture evaporate slowly, lowering the temperature inside. It isn't magic – it still happens today.
 
Handmade by Maurizio in Altomonte. The handle is attached by hand while the clay is still soft. The spout is shaped to pour without drips. The small imperfections are those of a handcrafted object.
