In Calabria liqueurs were drunk like this: from little terracotta cups, after lunch or dinner, slowly. Bergamot, liquorice, citron: Calabrian liqueurs have strong flavours that terracotta neither alters nor loses. The clay doesn't release its own flavours or absorb those of the drink. It leaves everything as it is.
