In Calabria people have always drunk from terracotta. In farmhouses, in masseria kitchens, on tables set for celebrations. Terracotta keeps things cool without a fridge: the porous clay lets the liquid breathe, lowers the temperature, keeps it just as it should be.
 

 
These glasses are handmade by Maurizio in Altomonte, on the pedal wheel. The shape is the classic one, straight, made to sit well in your hand. The small variations on the surface, the glaze that isn't perfectly even: these are the marks of an object made without molds.
