The terracotta glass changes the way you drink. It doesn't have the clarity of glass, or the lightness of plastic. It has a different weight in the hand, a different temperature, a way of carrying water or wine that stays with you.
 
 
 
In Calabria people drank from terracotta forever. In farmhouses, in the kitchens of country estates, on festival tables. Terracotta keeps things cool without a refrigerator: the porous clay lets the liquid breathe, lowers the temperature, keeps it the way it should be.
 
 
 
These glasses are handmade by Maurizio in Altomonte, on the pedal wheel. The shape is the classic one, straight, made to sit well in the hand. The small variations on the surface, the glaze that isn't perfectly even: these are the marks of something made without molds.
 
 
 
It's used for water, for wine, for juices. For drinking slowly, the way it used to be done.
