A square plate says something even before the food goes on it. It isn't the choice of someone who didn't think. It's a piece that changes the way you look at the table.
 
 
 
In terracotta, it also changes the way the table feels. Food sits differently: it doesn't slide, it settles. A piece of cheese, warm bread, a starter. The geometric shape softens with the material, and what remains is an object that holds the centre of the table without making a fuss.
 
 
 
Every plate is made by hand by Maurizio on the wheel, using local clay. The irregular rim and small variations in the surface are the craftsman's signature. No two pieces are the same.
 
 
 
Use it for antipasti, cheese, bruschetta and main courses. Or simply to set down something good and leave it there, in the middle of the table, while everyone chats.
