Good oil and vinegar are usually hidden away in the cupboard, brought out only when needed. This set puts them on the table, where they look just right.
 
 
 
Two handmade terracotta cruets: one for oil, one for vinegar. The shape is that of the traditional Calabrian oil pourer, round-bellied with a precise spout. Together they make a piece for the table, not just the kitchen.
 
 
 
In Calabria food was dressed at the table, not in the pan. Oil on bread, on salad, on bruschetta fresh from the oven. Having it to hand, in a container worth looking at, was part of the ritual. It still is.
 
 
 
Each piece is handmade by Maurizio in Altomonte. Small differences between the two pieces are natural: same hands, same material, but never identical.
