This mug is made by Maurizio in Altomonte, with clay and a kick wheel. Every decoration is hand-painted before firing. No two pieces are the same: each mug is unique, made in limited numbers.
 
Altomonte is a village in the hills inland from Cosenza, among the mountains of Calabria. It has a long history, an old town overlooking the valley, and a ceramic tradition that Maurizio has carried on for years in his workshop. The decorations of the Limited Edition mugs come from there: coats of arms, local symbols and details born of that history and that land.
 
The clay has a precise colour and texture. The mugs are fired in the workshop kiln. The result is a mug that feels different in your hand from any other: solid, warm, substantial.
 
Use it for coffee, tea or breakfast. Or just keep it on display, because it's a beautiful piece to look at.
