In the dialect of Altomonte, Fuacu e Pummadoru means “fire and tomato”. Two words that tell the story of a whole table.
This box brings together three simple things Calabria never goes without: 'nduja (a spicy spreadable salami), tomato and slow fire. Enough for a dinner, an aperitivo, or simply a moment to stop and eat something good.
Artisan 'nduja
From Spilinga, in the province of Vibo Valentia, where this tradition was born centuries ago. Made with selected meat and Calabrian chilli – hot because Calabrian chilli is part of what it is.
Calabrian cherry tomato sauce
Made with Calabrian tomatoes and nothing unnecessary. Good on everything – and with 'nduja, sweetness takes the heat by the hand.
Small terracotta 'nduja warmer
Handmade by Calabrian craftsmen, each one different. A candle underneath warms the 'nduja slowly until it's creamy and easy to spread.
How to use it
Put the 'nduja in the warmer, light the candle, wait a few minutes. Spread the warm 'nduja on bread and add a spoonful of cherry tomato sauce. Five minutes to prepare, half an hour to eat – because nobody is in a hurry.
Fuacu e Pummadoru comes from Altomonte, in the province of Cosenza, from a shop that knows every producer personally. A box to open slowly, with the bread already on the table.
